Apalachicola Bay Chamber of Commerce
Business and travel information for Apalachicola, St. George Island and Eastpoint Florida
After a hiatus in 2021, the Tenth Annual St. George Island Tour of Homes is back and scheduled for Saturday, February 12, 2022. The tour benefits the St. George Lighthouse Association (SGLA). This year’s tour will feature six unique and attractive homes, from the gated St. George Plantation on the West to the beautiful gulf views on the East End. These homes showcase the distinct architecture, décor, landscape, and vistas on the island.
Hours of the tour are from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. (EST) on Saturday, February 12, 2022. Included on the tour are the Cape St. George Lighthouse and Keeper’s House, along with the Resort Village Clubhouse and Pool. This year the tour will feature resident artist, Cory Wright. Cory is a painter who enjoys capturing the essence of light on the land, sand, and sea. She is the owner of Cory Wright Gallery & Studio in historic Palmetto, Florida and has paintings held in numerous national and international private collections. Cory has graciously donated an original painting to be raffled off during the tour to benefit the St. George Lighthouse Association. Cory will be painting en plein air during the tour and will also be exhibiting her paintings for all to enjoy. Tickets for the tour will be available online beginning January 1st, 2022 at www.sgitourofhomes.com or at the Cape St. George Lighthouse Gift Shop and will cost $25.00 in advance or $30.00 on the day of the Tour.
In lieu of the typical Friday kick-off event, at the close of the tour, a “Thank You” reception will be held in Lighthouse Park from 4:00-6:00pm for volunteers and tourgoers. Light refreshments will be served.
SGLA is a non-profit Florida corporation organized to preserve, maintain, and promote the Cape St. George Lighthouse. The Lighthouse was reconstructed in 2008 after collapsing in 2005. SGLA also built a replica of the Lighthouse Keeper’s House which includes a gift shop and museum featuring a replica of the Cape St. George Light’s third order Fresnel lens, partially funded with Tour of Homes proceeds.
Funds raised by SGLA are used for the on-going maintenance and enhancement of the Lighthouse, the Keeper’s House and Lighthouse Park.
