Business and travel information for Apalachicola, St. George Island and Eastpoint Florida
Well, how ’bout that cold snap?? There only seems to be one way to get warm, and that is to get into Bowery Station and soak up some of the piping hot live music that has been lifting the rafters here in Apalachicola.
What fuel are we throwing on the fire this week to keep you warm? Strange you should ask….
Wednesday, Dec 13 – BS Open Mic rolls from 6-8ish. This weekly event has been a mainstay in local entertainment for years, and has fostered the development of numerous performers as they gain their confidence and stage presence. All levels of talent are welcomed and appreciated. As always, tips for performers from BS Open Mic go to charity, during the month of December we will be supporting the Apalachicola Volunteer Fire Department.
Thursday, Dec 14 – Flathead Stringband brings their jumpin’ oldtime bluegrass out for a fun evening from 6-8:30pm. The happiest duo of performers known to the live music scene, Chris and Haden bring energetic guitar, banjo, mandolin and fiddle for a show that always gets the crowd involved. Get you suspenders snapped on for a night of foot stompin’ fun!
Friday, Dec 15 – Matt Gardi and the Monotone Nun Band start off the day from 4-6pm. Gardi, the subject more of ridicule than appreciation during his shows, is the type of performer that makes all the other acts look great and knows how to get the “stop playing” tip bucket filled to the brim. (But hey, someday he will be able to say he opened for the incredible act destined for stardom that follows…) Ten Pound Pancake is back in the Bowery from 7-10pm. No one turns up the heat like Eric, Bill and the boys as they take you on a tour of funk, soul, groove and rock n’ roll that lights Apalachicola on fire. Please, no dancing on the roof again!
Saturday, Dec 16 – Tyler Arnold kicks off Saturday from 3:30-5:30pm. Taylor debuts at BS with a style that emulates his roots from Louisiana of Delta Blues, jazz, folk, and americana. Apalach will eat this talent up, and we made a special effort to find a slot to get him into our scene as soon possible. Of note…he has the Melissa Bowman stamp of approval…and Melissa has never steered us wrong. Then, get on the train bound for jam city as the Jerry Thigpen Trio is ready to rock out an Apalach Saturday night from 6:30-9:30. Great originals, and well chosen covers performed by clearly three of the most talented musicians to grace our stage. Bring out your dancing galoshes for a winter night made for hot music.
Sunday, Dec 17 – Boooooooo! Michael and Patty of Boo Radley join us for a great Sunday from 5-8pm. You know it’s going to be an evening of well written originals, impeccable vocal harmonies, and intricate guitar all wrapped up in a jovial performance by two of the most giving and sincere people on the face of the earth. Their following has been described as a cult, as the stories their songs tell take the listener on a journey from tears to laughter. There is no better way to spend a Sunday evening in the fine community that Apalachicola is.
All this is leading up to our New Year’s Eve celebration with Johnny Barbato and the Lucky Doggs, SPAM Cook-Off 2018 and a whole new year of great live music….come warm your toes in the hot springs stage that the BS stage has become…
Don’t forget our online music schedule is available in real time at www.Bowerystation.us.
