Wednesday, April 11 – BS Open Mic rolls from 6-8ish. Last week was outlandish as youth from Alabama and Georgia stole the show, and thanks for all those who peformed to an absolutely packed house. So get in early for a seat again…and don’t forget all levels of talent are welcomed and appreciated. The point is to grow and challenge yourselves as musicians…and that you do! As always, tips for performers from BS Open Mic go to charity, and this week we will be raising money for the Cricket Fund that helps pay for mammograms for underprivileged women in Franklin and Gulf counties, leading up to our Chickfest 2018 on May 11 and 12th! So come on out and belt out a tune or two for a great cause and great fun.
Thursday, April 12 – How do you define a perfect fit? How about Garnet & Soul on a Thursday evening at Bowery Station from 6-8:30pm. Now that is making Thursdays the New Fridays! Mary is one of the most dynamic performers in this region of the country, backed by a talented, and legendary, trio of gents offering horns, keys, guitar and percussion. Mary brings a set list of jazzy soulful songs that span the genres. With a vocal range that can cover a wide variety of artists, the crowd tunes in to every song. Garnet and Soul will be conducting a live audio and video recording during this show, so come on out and support and be part of something special.
Friday, April 13 – Matt Gardi steps from under the bar… uhh.. from behind the bar to put on a show from 3-5pm and the bar is not set too high. But fear not, he warms up the stage for the Common Taters who will be playing from 7-10pm! The Common Taters are quickly becoming an Apalach favorite, and put on a fun loving show with a set list that ranges from the Dead, to Dylan to Zydeco! Always joined by a Turnip or two, Common Taters make for a great way to start the weekend.
Saturday, April 14 – David Rueve joins us for a show from 3-5:30pm. David joins us from Dothan, Alabama and puts on a great show of Americana with a unqiue vocal style and masterful guitar. Then, get your Rock N’ Roll on as Southern Flood storms into Bowery Station from 6:30-8:30pm. It’s been a while since these guys lit up Apalach, and we are ready for a roof raising evening of your favorite classics while shaking your booty off. The word is, the boys have been working up some new material and we look forward to what they are gearing to roll out.
Sunday, April 15 – Tyler James Arnold brings back his Louisiana roots show back into the Bowery from 4-8pm. Tyler loves to entertain people with his soulful takes on music from bands like The Allman Brothers, Bob Marley, Van Morrison, Band of Heathens, The Band, and Chris Stapleton. He manages to artfully use just the right amount of sampling to showcase his intricate guitar leads, while his vocals bring life to the songs he sings. Now that’s a great way to enjoy a Sunday afternoon in Apalach.
As always we would like to extend our gratitude to those of you whom continue to support our efforts to bring a variety of live music to Apalachicola and our little beer and wine venue known as BS. It can’t happen without you! Also, we are humbled by the incredible talent that lends their gifts to creating a great live music scene here on the Gulf Coast! The road goes on forever and the party never ends……
