Apalachicola Bay Chamber of Commerce
Business and travel information for Apalachicola, St. George Island and Eastpoint Florida
This week is one of those weeks that highlights the diversity of music and entertainment that is available on the Gulf Coast, and showcases our efforts at Bowery Station to bring you, our loyal customers, samplings of a wide variety of genres and skill sets.
Here is what we have in store for you….
Wednesday, March 7 – BS Open Mic rolls from 6-8ish. This weekly event has been a mainstay in local entertainment for years, and has fostered the development of numerous performers as they gain their confidence and stage presence. All levels of talent are welcomed and appreciated. As always, tips for performers from BS Open Mic go to charity, and this week we will be raising money for the Franklin County Humane Society. So come on out and belt out a tune or two for a great cause and great fun.
Thursday, March 8 – Matt Gardi opens the day from 3-5pm with a set lists that ranges from Buffett to the Band, and as most listeners offer after his shows… “He’s not THAT bad!” Then, leave your thin skin and political correctness at the door as Bowery Station welcomes the return of Men of Leisure from 6-8:30pm. Straight out of the main room of Floribama’s… right into the center of the Apalach music scene, these dueling pianos put on a show, mixed with risque humor and well written originals, with hits like “Daddy was a working girl,” and “I get my women at the waffle house.” Exemplifying BS irreverence, Downtown Larry Brown, and Larry Strickland both play amazing keyboard throughout their performances…which have the Clayton Mathis and Johnny Barbato stamp of approval by the way!
Friday, March 9 – Welcome a taste of Chickfest 2018 as Sarah Moranville, a rising female artist on the Gulf Coast brings her smile and sultry voice to the stage from 3-5pm. Sarah has a set list that keeps everyone in tune with the show. Then get your rock n’ roll on as the boys from Southern Flood are ready to rip it up from 7-10pm! Get ready for your favorite rock classics to get you up and moving on a Friday night as Hobson, Charles, Steve and Ellis get their high energy groove on.
Saturday, March 10 – Cat Braaten, another featured artists of Chickfest 2018, brings her radiance, dynamic vocals and rhythmic acoustic guitar out for a show from 3-5:30pm. Your favorite covers are interwoven with her well written originals for a show designed for a Saturday afternoon. Then, one of the premiere blues and rock based bands on the Gulf Coast, the Jerry Thigpen Trio, joins us for a show from 6:30-9:30pm. These cats have become known for not just their impeccable covers, but for getting the crowd hoppin’ with their originals as well. There is no stoppin’ this train once it gets rollin…
Sunday, March 11 – Tyler James Arnold is ready to roll for a show from 4-8pm. This talented guitarist uses just the right amount of sampling to showcase his lead riffs through a set list that blends well written originals with popular covers. There is a reason he is a rising star on the Gulf Coast music scene, and his stage presence coupled with his down home Louisiana bayou feel keeps the audience in tune with the show and lovin’ every lick of his guitar! It’s a perfect blend with a springtime Sunday!
There’s a taste of Chickfest 2018 (Coming May 11&12) mixed with piano and rock n blues this week, so come on out and enjoy! Again, we at BS are thankful for your continued support of our efforts to bring Apalachicola a wide variety of top talent, we couldn’t be doing this without you!!
