SMALL BOXES OF TRUTH TELLING STORIES WITH ASSEMBLAGE Workshop

Create a piece of art, share a memory, convey a truth – assemblage can do any of these things in a powerful way. In this one day class we will be using wood, screws, hardware, found words, paint, stain and more to embellish a shadow box that will cradle a special item. Students are encouraged to bring photos, keepsakes, oddities, or small treasures to use on their piece to make it personal and tell a story.

Basic woodworking and finishing techniques will be taught, as well as balance, composition, and what will build a strong statement. We will be learning sound construction techniques and how to use some power tools. No woodworking experience needed. Beginners welcome.

All supplies are included, but students should bring that special item that they would like to enshrine as well as any other items that inspire them.  Robin will be bringing boxes that will hold an object 4″ square or smaller. If you have an item that is bigger, please bring a box or drawer that it will fit in.
