Well I declare summer is here!!! With it comes a May packed with exciting live music at Bowery Station!
Let’s check out this week’s line up which includes sinko duh mayo, oh me oh my oh!
Wednesday, May 2 – BS Open Mic rolls from 6-8ish. Often imitated, never duplicated, BS Open Mic has always been a magical evening of sharing and developing musical talent. Last week’s Open Mic had so many musicians that we had to be diligent to hold everyone to a 3 song limit, so get in early so we can be assured to fit you on the list! As always, tips for performers from BS Open Mic go to charity, and this week we will be raising money for the Cricket Fund Beyond Diagnosis that helps treat underprivileged women in Franklin and Gulf counties, leading up to our Chickfest 2018 on May 11 and 12th! So come on out and belt out a tune or two for a great cause and great fun.
Thursday, May 3 – Bowery Station is pleased to present a Tribute to Tom Petty from 7-10pm featuring three of the areas most legendary performers: Brian Bowen, Cat Braaten and Bo Spring. These three captured the audience a few months back with their tribute to John Prine, now they are back presenting the songs of the late great Floridian, Tom Petty. It is sure to be a night to be remembered. We might suggest arriving early to secure a good seat as their previous tribute was standing room only!
Friday, May 4 – Josh Watson hits the stage from 3:30-6pm! Josh is a vibrant soloist, who plays a great guitar and can cover almost any genre, as the crowd always sings along and taps their feet. Then, Bowery Station is pleased to have Old Soul Revival joins us for the evening from 7-10pm! What do you get when you put a blues guitarist, an Appalachian fiddle player, a funk drummer, and a traditional country singer together? You get Old Soul Revival, Tallahassee’s authentic honky tonk band. This will be a great evening featuring some of Tallahassee’s top talent, many of whom have also been featured in some of the more popular bands that have played the Bowery Station stage. We look forward to hosting this collective of …Old Soul Revival!!
Saturday, May 5 – Sink Oh dooo Myo! We have a fun Saturday lined up for Apalachicola! First…. growing town favorite Tyler James Arnold joins us from 3-6pm bringing an afternoon of his unique style of roots americana, wrapped up in a little swamp folk that is a style all his own. An extremely talented guitarist, Tyler has mastered the art of the perfect amount of well timed sampling to provide backing for his intricate solos. Tyler is one of the rare soloists that can fill the room with energy and to that end is …. perfect to open for Tallahassee HighTest! HighTest will be taking the stage from 6:30-9:30pm for one of their high energy dynamic improvisational performances. Few bands can routinely get the joint jumpin’ like these cats, as they lay down the funk, groove and soul with a joy of performance. It’s going to be a great Saturday Celebration with Tallahassee HighTest!
Sunday, May 6 – FIRST SUNDAY ALERT! Be prepared for another great Sunday afternoon, as Gill Autrey starts off the day with a well woven tale or two at 2:30. Local musician and author, Gill is recovering from hand surgery, so we welcome his wry sense of humor as great entertainment! Then, smiling Randy Mims brings a diverse set of music along with a diverse set of instruments from flute to guitar for a show from 3:30-5:15. Then, the man, the myth, the legend… Slim Fatz joins us for one of his signature performances from 5:30-7:30pm. A small framed musician with powerful performance, Slim brings love to every one of his bluesy performances. This will be the LAST FIRST Sunday of the Season as we transition into summer hours, so come on out and support these great musicians for a great Sunday afternoon in Apalach.
Once again, we at Bowery Station thank each and every one of you that support us and the musicians that grace our stage. We are grateful that so many of you choose to support our efforts to create a positive environment where all levels of talent can share and develop their gifts they share with us all
