Cape St. George Light’s 15th Anniversary Celebration this Saturday, 12/16 to the St. George Island Volunteer Fire Department, Main Firehouse, located at 324 East Pine Avenue on St. George Island. The time for the event will remain the same – 5:30pm-7:30pm. The laser light show that was planned at the closing of the celebration will be postponed to a later date.
The evening affair will feature a short ceremony of keynote speakers, Carol Talley, lighthouse historian and former gift shop manager, Teri Kemp, Retired SGLA Officer and Board Member, SGLA Board President Chuck Lombardo, and Amy Hodson, St. George Lighthouse Association Executive Director. Following the ceremony, there will be a reception, with hors d’oeuvres and refreshments. The evening will culminate with an amazing laser light show celebrating 15 years since the reconstruction.
In conjunction with our celebration, we have launched a 15th Anniversary fundraising campaign to raise $15,000. This campaign will have a transformative impact on our ability to maintain and improve our beautiful lighthouse, museum and gift shop, as well as expand our services. We hope you will join us to celebrate this milestone for our lighthouse and the herculean effort by so many to restore the lighthouse to its former glory as a beacon to all that visit St. George Island. This event is partially funded by the Franklin County TDC.
